On Tuesday February 3rd, 2015 the Bad River Ojibwe Tribe and their Convention Center played host for the 1st Joint Mining Impact Committee meeting representing Ashland and Iron Counties, the Towns of Morris and Anderson. The four municipalities represent the four geographic areas that would be impacted the most by Gogebic Taconite's proposed open pit Iron Mine. Once projected to be a 22 mile long project by GTAC, the proposal has now shrunk to about 4 miles of lands inside Iron County alone, and even then, the company lost it original lease for county lands for non-payment of the lease agreement, due Monday, January 26th, 2015. The company claims they are broke.

Presented here to date, with other video spots to follow, is the opening session with introductions by elder Joe Rose Sr., and Chairman Mike Wiggins of the Bad River Ojibwe who gives the welcoming. The introduction is followed by a welcoming honor song by members of the Bad River Tribe on hand drums.
